National Reconciliation Week at Enrich Early Education

During National Reconciliation Week, our centre slows down to listen, learn, connect and reflect together. Through storytelling, bush tucker experiences, cultural activities and meaningful conversations, the children explored the rich cultures, histories and traditions of First Nations peoples in hands-on and respectful ways.

A very special cultural heritage visit

The week began with a very special visit from one of our young learners’ fathers, and Anthony. They’re all actively involved in celebrating and sharing their Aboriginal culture.

Our young learner and her sibling even performed with local group Jellurgal at Tallebudgera Creek Beach to performing at an NRL game in front of more than 15,000 people. We are incredibly proud of them.

Anthony, an Aboriginal artist, cultural performer, and community member who is passionate about sharing culture and fostering understanding through art.

Celebrating Aboriginal culture

Through an interactive learning experience, the children explored the sounds of the didgeridoo, listened to Australian animal sounds produced by the instrument, and participated in ochre-painting. We loved seeing the children actively listen, asking thoughtful questions, and participated respectfully throughout the visit. Experiences like these help support children’s cultural awareness, communication skills, confidence and understanding of the world around them.

Acknowledgement to Country and learning about Aboriginal symbols

Group time throughout the week began with an Acknowledgement to Country. In the Kinder room, educators also introduced a new Aboriginal sand-tracing experience.

The children explored laminated cards featuring different Aboriginal symbols and carefully traced them with their fingers in trays of sand.

Together, the educators and children spoke about reconciliation and how we can show kindness, care and respect towards one another every day.

Bush tucker morning and afternoon tea

Throughout the week, the children enjoyed a range of Native Bush Tucker experiences, including lemon myrtle cupcakes and riberry and raspberry jam muffins.

One of our favourite traditions during National Reconciliation Week is welcoming families to join us for a Native Bush Tucker afternoon tea. This year, families were invited to enjoy wild rosella iced tea and homemade lemon myrtle cupcakes during afternoon pick-up.

Learning how Quandong iced tea is made

Children from Nursery through to Pre-Prep joined in making their own Quandong iced tea.

In each room, the children explored dried Quandong and carefully poured water over the fruit, supporting their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination throughout the experience.

Our chef, Miss Sayaka, then soaked the Quandong overnight and prepared the tea for the children to enjoy the following day. Once cooled, children from Toddlers to Pre-Prep tasted their homemade Quandong iced tea together.

Quandong is a native Australian fruit with a flavour often compared to a mix of apricot, peach and rhubarb.

Lemon myrtle cupcakes for afternoon tea

On Friday, all children joined in making lemon myrtle cupcakes for afternoon tea. Carefully pour the ingredients into a bowl, mix the batter, and watch the ingredients transform into a cupcake mixture ready for baking. Miss Sayaka then baked the cupcakes for the children and families to enjoy during afternoon tea.

That afternoon, families were welcomed with a small surprise at pick-up time as we served lemon myrtle cupcakes and rosella iced tea as part of our Native Bush Tucker afternoon tea experience.

‘Wear it Yellow’ fundraiser

Each year, we proudly take part in the Wear it Yellow fundraiser, supporting the important work of Children’s Ground for First Nations children, families and educators.

We were incredibly grateful for the support shown by our Enrich community throughout the week. Together, we raised $555 for the Wear it Yellow fundraiser.

The funds raised can help support the employment of four First Nations early childhood educators and assist children in accessing on-country learning experiences surrounded by family, culture and community.

National Reconciliation Week reminds us of the importance of listening, learning and walking together with respect. We feel incredibly grateful to our families, educators and community members who helped create such meaningful experiences for the children throughout the week.

Mother’s Day: A Tea-riffic Afternoon Tea

A Mother’s Day experience designed arount the 5 senses

At Enrich, we celebrate our mothers and mothers at heart with a Tea-riffic Mother’s Day afternoon tea featuring a 5-senses experience. Giving mums a moment to slow down, connect with their child and create core memories together. All sensory activities and mindful moments are curated by our educators to help mums feel seen, heard, and deeply valued for all they do for their little ones. Gifting them a moment to celebrate motherhood, nurture wellbeing, and make joyful memories with their children.

Sensory rich activities for mum and child

As the mums arrived, they were welcomed into our playground that magically transformed into a fragrant flower and herb garden. 5 sensory experiences were waiting for the mums and their little ones to enjoy.

✔ Flowerpot planting experience: Surrounded by the gentle scent of flowers and fresh soil, mums and children planted a special flower together in hand-painted pots created by the children. The children and their mums were also invited to join in a playdough activity, guessing which essential oils they could smell in the playdough and which herbs, such as rosemary, they could smell.

✔ Mum’s Afternoon Tea: No Tea-riffic celebration is complete without a special tea. Our chef, Miss Sayaka, created a spread of sweet treats, fresh fruit, and fruit-enriched lemonades.

✔ Hand masssage: Our hand massage station helps mums feel cared for and appreciated. Children chose calming scents and created a special moment of care for mum, showing how small connections nurture a child’s emotional wellbeing.

✔ Sound Bath Meditation: Our wonderful yoga teacher, Miss Tina, hosted a calming sound-healing session. Treating mums to a moment to slow down and breathe deeply. Simply because at Enrich, we believe emotional wellbeing begins with moments of calm, connection, and co-regulation.

✔ Flowerpot planting experience: All our events, such as Mother’s Day and Christmas, feature a photowall for keepsake photos. It’s a special way to mark Mother’s Day.

✔ Gift giving: Each mum took home a gift bag filled with their handpainted flower pot and thoughtful gifts made by the children.

A beautiful celebration of our mothers and mothers at heart

The playground was filled with smiles, cuddles, conversations, and the gentle sounds of children proudly sharing the 5 sensory experience with their mums. We loved hearing little voices say “I made that!” when they proudly showed the handpainted flower pot to their mums. Here’s what our event looked like:

A magical Christmas show at Enrich in Southport

A festive Christmas afternoon at Enrich

When Santa and Mrs Claus arrived to sing their favourite Christmas songs, their entrance was met with loud cheers and wide smiles. A moment many of our children will remember long after the final carol is sung. Yet, that wasn’t all! The children were also surprised by a visit from the one and only Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer!

Moments like these sit at the heart of what we value at Enrich. They create opportunities for children to experience community, shared joy, and connection.

A festive picnic during our Christmas Carolling Show

To make the afternoon even more special, families were invited to relax and enjoy the performance picnic‑style. This year, each child received a festive Santa Snack Bag filled with Christmas‑shaped marshmallows and crunchy pretzels, which were a big hit. Families also enjoyed wraps, a cheese platter, and sweet treats while watching the show together on their picnic rugs— a simple but meaningful way to slow down and enjoy the moment.

Halloween at Enrich Early Education

A spooktacular Halloween celebration at Enrich Early Education

Tiny pumpkins, superheroes, and witches appeared from every corner of the centre — a telltale sign that our annual Halloween party had begun. The centre buzzed with excitement as the children began getting ready for the spooky fest. We loved seeing the children work together as they helped each other put on their costumes, tie capes, and straighten their hats. These small acts of kindness and teamwork remind us how children learn empathy, connection, and confidence through shared experiences.

Trick-or-treating the Enrich way

As the afternoon began, our playground transformed into a Spooktacular Halloween playground. Parents volunteered to dress in their spookiest costumes and wait for the children to go on a round of trick-or-treating. Each child proudly shared their “trick” — a spooky dance, a cheerful “boo!”, or a friendly high-five — in exchange for a small, non-lolly treat such as a slinky, slap band, or spinning top. The joy on their faces said it all!

It wouldn’t be a party without some dancing. So, we put on some spooky tunes and soon after, the children showed us their spookiest dance moves. We loved hearing their little voices sing along to the songs and seeing the joy on their faces.

A celebration for our community

As a family-focused well-being hub, we invite our Enrich community to our events. Having our children’s (grand)parents and caregivers attending means the world to us and the little ones. Seeing their family and educators at the party helps the children make sense of where they belong in the world.

The EQM approach to events

Halloween is more than spooky costumes and dress-ups. They practised essential life skills such as showing gratitude, kindness as well as building confidence. For example, when they greeted parents for trick-or-treating, said thank you for their treats, and proudly showed off their spookiest dance moves with friends. These joyful, natural moments are exactly what our EQM (Emotional Intelligence + Montessori) approach is all about.

At the same time, Halloween helps children explore their emotions. They learn to recognise the difference between things that are pretend-scary — like costumes and decorations — and things that are truly scary. This builds emotional awareness, resilience, and the confidence to manage feelings.

Through an EQ lens, attending events helps the children practice waiting their turn, helping friends, and sharing excitement together in a new environment. These experiences align with the Early Years Learning Framework, nurturing children’s sense of identity, well-being, and communication.

Father’s Day: a 5-senses celebration

A 5-senses celebration for Father’s Day 2025

We treated our fathers, father figures, and all the special people in our children’s lives to our 2025 Father’s Day party at Enrich Early Education.

A celebration of the special bond between dads and their child(ren)

This year, we created a 5-senses experience—sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell—so children and their dads could connect in meaningful, playful ways.

✔ Sight: Children drew their dad’s face and explored emotions using stackable cut-out pieces. Each child also created a beautiful painting featuring their own photo—a keepsake to treasure from 2025.

✔ Sound: At the sound station, children composed tunes for their dads using our instruments. The highlight, however, was the heartfelt message each child had recorded for their dad. The fathers were surprised when they found the pre-recorded messages in their personalised gift bags.

✔ Taste: Our chef prepared a delicious food platter for all the families that attended our Father’s Day celebration.

✔ Smell: This station was a lot of fun! In true Montessori fashion, the children were invited to make a BBQ rub for their fathers. It gave the children hands-on life skills and sensory fun.

✔ Gift giving: All dads were gifted a one-of-a-kind art piece created by their child and a ‘talking button’ on which their child recorded a special wish for their father such as “I love you daddy”. A very beautiful reminder of what their child’s voice sounded like in 2025.

We’ve raised $410 to support the next generation of First Nations Early Childhood educators!

Our Enrich community has raised $410 for Children’s Ground during the 2025 Wear it Yellow fundraiser. That’s enough to support the employment of three First Nations Early Childhood Educators! A huge thank you to all families and colleagues who contributed.

A week of learning and tasting Native Bush Tucker

Our 2025 Wear it Yellow week was filled with meaningful, age-appropriate learning experiences carefully tailored to each room’s interests and developmental stage. Every classroom participated in its own National Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week educational programs. And most memorably, we shared Native food. Native bush tucker became a beautiful way for the children to connect with First Nations culture through taste, smell, colour, and texture.

Yellow sensory-rich experiences for our nursery and toddler children

Our youngest learners embraced Wear It Yellow Day with sensory-rich experiences designed to nurture creativity, independence and connection. These activities help young children understand and process the world through their senses. During National Reconciliation Week, the children explored the colour yellow, for example, through yellow paint and different textured brushes. And through a yellow sensory bin filled with different objects, textures and even playful dress-ups, it sparked curiousity and joy. But the crowd favourite? Two new yellow boxes to climb over!

The Pre-Kindy children talked about key concepts of Reconciliation Week

In Pre-Kindy, the children explored ideas around saying sorry, respecting others, and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

Group time began with an Acknowledgment to the Country. We then sang the much-loved “Taba Naba” song. The educator introduced key concepts of Reconciliation Week using flashcards with words like mob, dreaming, Country, Uluru, and songlines. These resources helped open meaningful conversations and supported the children’s growing understanding of culture and respect for diversity. Group discussions after the stories allowed the children to reflect, share, and connect through language and shared experiences.

On Monday, the children made Lemon Myrtle cupcakes. This experience blended cultural learning with practical life skills as children measured, poured, mixed, and waited patiently for their turn. The aroma of the lemon myrtle sparked curiosity and conversation, and the process supported both sensory engagement and early math skills.

A taste of culture

Throughout the week, our children enjoyed:

Lemon Myrtle cupcakes – zesty and sweet. These were a hit for children and their parents.
Rosella jam on toast – a delicious, tart jam made from the Rosella flower. This jam was last year’s favourite.
Wattleseed chocolate cupcakes – rich and earthy, with roasted Wattleseed’s warm, nutty flavour.

On National Sorry Day, our families enjoyed Lemon Myrtle cupcakes as a small gesture of reflection and community.

Why we ‘Wear it Yellow’

We proudly joined the Wear it Yellow campaign, led by Children’s Ground, a First Nations-led organisation focused on long-term change through culturally strong, community-led education and wellbeing programs.

This cause resonates deeply with us as Early Childhood Educators. When families donate, they receive a tub of homemade playdough as a thank-you gift, and together, we help contribute to the future of First Nations-led early education.

A Tea-Riffic Afternoon Tea for Mother’s Day 2025

Mother’s Day at Enrich is a heartfelt celebration of our community’s mothers and mother figures. We curated an enriching afternoon tea to celebrate mums’ beautiful bond with their child(ren). Every detail was thoughtfully chosen to deliver a boutique experience aligned with our centre’s core value: LEARN.

A curated experience to relax while having fun with your child

As the mums arrived, they were welcomed into a tranquil space that blended indulgence and connection. While enjoying a delicious Afternoon Tea provided by our chef, Shasheema, the mums had a range of workshops to choose from:

✔ Teabag Making Workshop: A variety of fragrant herbs, florals, and teas were provided to craft a personalised tea blend. Participants could choose to do it themselves or with the help of their child. The result was a beautiful tea blend to bring home for a calming ritual throughout the weekend.

✔ Mum’s Afternoon Tea: Our garden transformed into an afternoon tea cafe, where we served ‘ladybug and flower appetisers’ made with cherry tomatoes, balsamic glaze, and cream cheese on toast, a fruit platter and delicious cupcakes.

✔ Essential Oil Scrub Making: This activity is organised by Megan, our Centre Director and qualified Aromatherapist, the mums blended essential oils in bath salts, creating a fragrant scrub to take home—a perfect treat for self-care.

✔ Sound Bath Meditation: Led by our yoga teacher Tina, the sound bath offered a moment of deep relaxation, helping mums recharge and reconnect with themselves.

✔ Gift giving: Each mum took home a gift bag filled with their handmade tea and scrub—a personalised reminder of a meaningful afternoon.

A Tea-Riffic Party for the Children

While our mums were being pampered, their little ones enjoyed their own celebration—because Mother’s Day is just as special for the children who love them. The activities:
✔ Music and play: Our “tea-riffic” party in the playground was filled with dancing and bubbles.
✔ Sensory Exploration: From playing with frozen flower bulbs to Montessori-inspired ‘dry and wet pouring,’ the children explored many sensory activities.
✔ Face Painting Heart-themed face painting added a splash of joy and creativity, making the children feel as festive as their mums.

Learning through love: How Mother’s Day links to the EYLF

At Enrich, our 2025 core value of the year is LEARN, and celebrations like Mother’s Day provide rich, real-world opportunities for growth. More than just a celebration, this event helped children develop social-emotional awareness, creativity, and confidence—fundamental elements of lifelong learning, and above all, it made them feel part of a greater community.

Easter carnival at Enrich Early Education

At Enrich Early Education, celebrating the seasons is about more than just fun. It’s about creating magical, meaningful moments for our children. This year, we surprised the children with something extra special: Easter carnival!

Our playground magically transformed into an Easter carnival

While the children were enjoying their morning tea in their rooms, our playground magically transformed into an Easter Carnival. After morning tea, the children were welcomed into a world of Easter sensory play.

Easter-themed sensory play activities

Our educators planned various engaging Easter-themed activities that supported learning through play and sparked imagination and curiosity. From painting Easter eggs and exploring frozen figurines in our sensory trays to uncovering eggs and little Easter chicks under the hay, the activities were great for all children from nursery to Kindergarten.

The sensory play stations were a calm and creative delight. Inviting the children to explore textures, colours, and the scents of the season—from soft feathers and bright carrots in playdough to pastel-coloured rice in the nursery. It was beautiful to witness their concentration and joy as they discovered something new.

A playful twist on a classic carnival game

One of the day’s favourites was our playful twist on the classic carnival game ‘ball drop’: the Easter Bunny Ball Drop. Giggles filled the air as children hopped like bunnies to the game, standing on their tippy toes to drop the ball into the bunny’s head and watching it roll out the bottom. Our older children added their own twist—turning it into a mini golf challenge!

Listening to a story while the educators prepared a surprise

A heartwarming moment came when Miss Mary gathered the children for a magical Easter Story. Captivated by her storytelling, our educators quickly transformed the carnival into something even more exciting—an Easter Egg Hunt!

And of course, there was an Easter egg hunt

Together, we counted to three—and then the garden came alive with little footsteps and delighted squeals. The children searched high and low, under the bridge and around the play equipment, excitedly collecting eggs. We witnessed moments of pure joy, excitement, and even beautiful acts of kindness as some children shared their eggs with others. We couldn’t be prouder of our little Easter egg hunters!

This event was a beautiful blend of sensory play, creativity, curiosity, and connection—all in line with our core value of the year: LEARN. We believe that learning can be joyful and our Easter Carnival is a perfect example of making learning magical.

We wish everyone a joyful Easter season filled with love, laughter, and a little bit of chocolate!

A fun filled morning with face painting, bouncy castle, sensory play and more

From the delight of face painting to the excitement of bouncing on the castle and the wonder of frozen flower play, every experience encouraged children to develop their creativity, fine motor skills, and social confidence. At Enrich, we are passionate about creating captivating learning experiences that spark curiosity, engage the senses and nurture self-esteem.

Magical moments during our Open Day

A special thank you to Happy Feet and Blissful Bebe for bringing their magic to the day! Seeing little ones dance, move, and embrace mindful moments was truly special. Parents also appreciated learning about the many benefits of Infant Massage and how it can support their little one’s development.

A magical Christmas show

Santa and his friends visited Enrich Early Education

Our children enjoyed a festive Christmas Carols show with a special visit from Santa, Mrs. Claus and Rudolph. Mrs. Claus asked the children if they knew Santa´s three favourite words. Most children knew it was ´Ho Ho Ho´. Mrs. Claus asked the children to shout Santa´s favourite words to see if he would come for a visit. The air was thick with anticipation as the children waited to see if the three magical words would bring Santa to the stage. The joyful cheers of the children when Santa made his entrance were heartwarming.

Santa and Mrs. Claus interacted with the children and danced to Santa’s favourite Christmas songs until it was time to invite another special guest to the stage: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

The children´s faces lit up when they clapped, sang, and bopped their heads to holiday songs like ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’ and ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas‘. Some older children gathered around the stage to dance with Santa and his friends.

As all families brought their picnic blankets, we supplied picnic-friendly snacks, adding to a relaxed and family-friendly Christmas event. Families enjoyed picking their picnic favourites, from cups filled with star-shaped Christmas fruits to hot dogs, and the children’s favourite, Olaf, floating in a pool of jelly, brought out little shrieks of happiness amongst the children.

A magical Christmas event for our Enrich community

At Enrich, we believe in creating strong and supportive connections within our community. That’s why we go above and beyond to organise memorable events for our families to come together while fostering a sense of belonging.

The event gave the families a fun-filled afternoon and a magical Christmas memory to cherish. We also organised the event because we believe in being a family-centred hub and in creating strong ties with our centre’s community feel.
